That was the message our volunteers Intsar Arnous and Manal Bilal delivered in a wonderful session with children at Blacko Primary School. One of the goals of New Neighbours Together is to educate the local community about the issues asylum seekers and refugees face, ensuring that those often excluded due to their religious beliefs, social and economic position receive a warm welcome.
It was fantastic to be able to go into Blacko and talk directly to the children who have recently been learning about the second world war and child evacuees.
‘I hope we achieved our goal which is to teach children to be more welcoming of refugee children. I was very impressed by the questions of the children, they are very smart! I really enjoyed it and I hope they also had fun.’Intsar, digital and media coordinator
